Meet the Team:
2016-2017

Message from the Adviser:

"Dear supporters, it has been a pleasure to grow from the feelings of hesitation at the beginning of the Girls Build LA program to complete inspiration. These 10 young ladies embody motivation, dedication, team work and self-sufficiency in their execution to bring more knowledge and opportunities in the college and STEM topics. I am proud to know them and can not wait for their leadership and those of their peers to allow them to be successful and community leaders in the future." -Ms. Mar

Savannah is an 8th grade student in the Los Angeles County. She is involved with Girls Build LA because she is interested in learning about new academic topics that will help her be successful in the future. For example, she is interested in preparing for college and science education. Through the program, she is looking forward to making new friends, exploring new events, and simply having fun. When she is not in the classroom Savannah is playing volleyball and has been since she was 10 years old and dances ballet.
Deilany is an 8th grader at a Los Angeles County school. She participates in Girls Build LA because it is important to lead by example when trying to make a difference in the world starting with the immediate community. She wants to inspire other girls to think outside of the box and breaks barriers when overcoming challenges to try new ideas. As a hobby, Deilany enjoys drawing/design, crafts, volleyball, tennis, and hanging out with her BFF. She is noted for her creativity and organization and hopes to apply herself in this program to bring into light that boys and girls can equally excel in whatever they want to do. And that teamwork from everyone is how we will achieve it.

Deema is an 8th grader that attends a school in Los Angeles County. She is very interested in Girls Build LA and she loves trying new ideas. Her goal for Girls Build LA is to practice teamwork work. Some facts about Deema when she is not in school: use to play the piano, plays soccer, and enjoys being with friends. Deema wants to spread the idea that girls and women can do anything that boys and men can do so we should all work together to be successful. No matter the height or age, anything can be possible if you put your mind straight to it.

Cassandra is a 7th grade girl that loves science and working in groups. She goes to JH Hull and works very hard to do good in school, also in about 5 different clubs, aside from “Girls Build LA”  to help support her school. Aside from her clubs and school she does volleyball and ballet. She’s been doing ballet for 8 years, and volleyball for about 4. Her encouragement for girls is to never doubt yourself and do what you dream of, don’t let anyone stop you from what you want to do in life.
